Rooted in Our Community

Welcome! The Steel Magnolias Garden Club is a group of passionate gardeners dedicated to sharing our love for plants and the environment. We welcome gardeners of all skill levels—from beginners to experts—and offer a variety of programs and volunteer opportunities throughout the year. We believe in the power of plants to bring people together and are committed to creating a greener future by supporting local businesses, nurturing the next generation of gardeners through youth programs, and beautifying our shared spaces for everyone to enjoy.

Our History

Established in 1998, the Steel Magnolias Garden Club was founded as a civic organization for the people of Zebulon who love nature and gardening. Our motto, “Grow and Bloom,” embodies our core purpose: to study the art of gardening, inspire a love for plants, and promote civic beautification and conservation of our natural resources.

We are proud to be a federated club, affiliated with the National Garden Club and the Garden Club of North Carolina. This affiliation allows us to connect with a wider network of gardeners and participate in larger-scale projects and events. The Garden Club of North Carolina has recognized us as an Honor Club for our extensive community service and good works.

Throughout the years, we have grown with the help of many local organizations, including the Town of Zebulon, the Chamber of Commerce, and local businesses. We look forward to continuing our mission for many years to come.
