Youth Outreach

As the Garden Club of North Carolina says, "Our future gardeners are our children." Youth clubs are an excellent way to encourage gardening skills, environmental awareness, and a love of nature.

Dirt Diggers

Established in January 2025, the Dirt Diggers is a youth-led garden club for students from the Governor Morehead School (GMS) for the Blind and Visually Impaired. We partner with the non-profit SEED Community Foundation to provide hands-on gardening workshops and guest speaker lessons focused on environmental sustainability. The young gardeners are already planning to tackle a large-scale garden design for the 2025/26 school year, where they’ll create an outdoor collaborative area and install raised beds.

Grow Getters

Established in September 2026, the Grow Getters is a youth-led garden club for students from the Zebulon Boys and Girls Club (ZBGC). We partner with the non-profit SEED Community Foundation to provide hands-on gardening workshops at their dedicated raised bed garden space and guest speaker lessons focused on environmental sustainability. The young gardeners continue to cultivate their outdoor collaborative area which is enjoyed by the entire ZBGC students and faculty.
